At Salem Christian School students learn to communicate with the people who speak Spanish.
Students will learn to understand that the Spanish culture is an integral part of
learning Spanish. At Salem Christian School, students will learn to listen to,
respond to, read and write Spanish so that they can interpret intended meaning.
Students at all levels are expected to write proficiently within the confines of
the presented materials.
Spanish is offered to grades K-10. All grades are introduced to Spanish vocabulary,
verbs and grammar concepts through vocabulary building activities which include
dramatic role play, music, and visualized games and videos. Salem Christian School
uses the state-approved curriculum, Realidades to ensure that students develop the
necessary skills as set forth in the Standards for Foreign Language Learning.
Tortilla Espanola: A very popular dish from Spain is easy to make and can be
served at any meal.
Ingrediants
4 eggs
3 potatoes
1 small onion
˝ cup of olive oil
3/8 T. salt
Dash of pepper for seasoning Preparation:
Scrub and peel potatoes & slice onions. Dice potatoes. In a frying pan,
sauté potatoes and onions in olive oil until they are lightly browned.
Add salt (pepper optional). Beat the eggs completely and pour them over the
potatoes and onion mixture in pan. Cook the mixture over low heat for about
4 minutes or until the eggs set. Place a plate over the frying pan and flip the
tortilla out onto the plate. Slide the tortilla back in the pan, the uncooked
side down. Continue to cook over low heat for an additional 3 minutes or so.
Place the tortilla on a serving dish and cool it to room temperature or serve hot.
Serve with fruit or favorite salsa.
